Oh Baby!

Is there anything more fun than a baby shower? I love them, even the stupid games they force you to play. Ever need a stand-by baby gift idea? I love this one, and give it frequently. I love making sweet little onesies (because you can never have too many of them) for the new mama-to-be. Iron-on transfers are not only affordable, but darling and give a thoughtful, yet simple custom touch to a store bought item.
I also like to spray paint a cardboard hatbox in a soft color. The mama can use it later for treasures in the nursery. Place the folded onsies inside, and you're done!
I just love babies... I love their soft little heads... their sweet little noses... their one-of-a kind smiles. I need to stop now before I start getting emotional.

Do you think the mama-to-be will like this? I hope so! Then maybe I'll get to hold that baby longer... (because it's really just about baby-holding-bribery at this point.)

  3. Adorable! I just bought some iron-on transfers yesterday because I thought they looked so fun. Love the idea, makes me want another one and mine is only 6 months old. Man, how's that work??

  4. Wow, that's awesome! That's a great idea, keeping a stock of cards and gift tags on hand. Great idea on the onesies, too, and with printable transfer paper out there, you can really customize your creations. Very cool mama! Thanks for sharing!

  7. What a wonderful gift to receive! Hmmm, let's see. I am "paper pregnant" with my 6th child, due in a few months, but she is 4.5 years old! Guess a onesie wouldn't fit her, heh???? Rats!

  17. Ok....I have a baby shower myself this weekend and I'm praying the girl who we're celebrating doesn't see this post because you've put me to shame! Ha! Yours has so much meaning, and I went to her registry, got the base for her car seat, wrapped it with the free wrapping paper that they offered, and bought a pre-made bow from target for 99cents. HA....I'm pathetic. I'm so impressed with your creativity, and the meaning you put into the gift. Good work...she will love it! :)

    Thank you.

  23. GREAT gift idea!! although we aren't on the same page here- if I don't have to go to another baby shower for YEARS it will be to soon! Been to enough of them and sadly not a whole lot of creativity being tossed around. I'd rather just stop by for a visit to spend time with the adorable babies!!

  30. Love love love your birthday party ideas! We don't have a major theme (note to self for next years planning) but I think if I had to define one, it would be pink and green and birdies. I am posting my invitation tomorrow. Take a look at it (if you will) and if any creative ideas pop in your head, PLEASE enlighten me!

So happy to call you a bloggy friend!! :)

  33. That is such a lovely gift. I wish we had baby showers here in England. Eight children and never had a baby shower. Feel like I've missed out on an important celebration. Maybe next time...

  36. I must've been out of it because I just now read your rabbit tribute and that was just so perfect! I deal with most things with humor also and sorry, but I was cracking up. I know it was sad, and he'll be missed, but you did that well - a perfect combo of funny and serious. My friend actually has a rabbit that acts like a dog (his name's Bob, what do you expect?) and I didn't believe it until I saw it with my own eyes. He really does act like a dog. Actually my one dog acts like a cat. What a funny weird world, huh?

  37. What a perfect gift, and all handmade, even the box and card!! It will be the hit of the shower, I'm sure!!

I used to paint onesies for baby showers (way back before my boys were born)and they were always a big hit... and that was without the handmade box and card:)
