I told y'all that I'm intentionally
slacking off when it comes to my blog this week. I'm gearing up for school, and wrapping up all sorts of little projects I won't have time for, once it begins. I have one project I wanted to share with you... it's an easy project I was able to sit and fully wrap my mind around, while at the same time,
not thinking. I know, it sounds crazy, but you'll just have to trust me on this. (and feel free to give it a try yourself)

I just happened to have three unused white candles in my candle bin. (and yes, I have a candle bin... you never know when emergency will strike, and you'll need a bin full of;
candles, and matches, and lighters- oh my!... sorry, got a little carried away there.) I also had a small baggie of brads that you find in the scrapbooking section of the craft store, and since I don't scrapbook, I am always looking for ingenious ways to use items like this. Waste not,
want not.
I traced the outline of the letters with a wooden skewer, and then simply pushed the brads into the sides of the candles in the shape of the letters. It took about twenty
mindless minutes and when I was finished, I was left with this;
Not that I'm decorating for Fall yet... because then my friends would scold me... I'm just getting ready, and wont this be cute? Oh, just think of the possibilities...

Too cute! Gotta go diggin' in the candle basket....

I can't wait to get ready for Fall either. I like the candles.
ReplyDeleteAll right, I'm going to give in to my primal urges and say something really unoriginal-- I LOVE these candles!!! How Better Homes and Gardens of you!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think you are definitely one of the coolest people I know for getting your Halloween candles ready at the end of August--ahem--beginning of September, right?
It's because you went to Target, isn't it? I was there last night (guilty glance) for the second time that day and noticed that they had their Halloween candies out...and they had big open spaces where they were undoubtedly getting ready to set up their Halloween stuff. They even had cute fall boots. *wide grin*
Luckily we've been experiencing the coldest August known to Indiana and when I went outside, I was greeted by a cool, fall-like breeze. It really put me in the mood, knowwhatImean?
Look who I'm talking to. Of course you do.
Glad you liked your prize. I knew you would.
Very cute and a great idea. I'm not a scrapbook kinda gal, either - but I love working with scrapbooking paper.

GENIOUS!!! If this is what you come up with in a mindless blur what in the world are you capable of if you really put your mind to it??? Just so you know this is another idea i'm borrowing from you but unlike the others I don't have to run out and buy anything. I too have a "candle bin" and plenty of scrapbooking material on hand!! ;)

ReplyDeleteHi Mama! This is awesome! I love it, just in time for Halloween. I can't wait to try it out. I know they make brads that look like gemstones on the top, I might try those, maybe if I find ones that are red and look like rubys. Thanks for sharing Mama!
ReplyDeleteI could do that!!! What a great idea, and yes, I'm going to steal it - just for my house though. It's not like I'm going to make a bunch and sell them to Pier 1 and take all the credit...probably. HA HA Thanks for sharing that - decorating for fall is my fav!! ♥
