Pie deserves it's own post...

One of my favorite things in the whole world, is baking pie.  I love everything about it, but mostly, I love feeding pie to people who love pie.  (I got these pie cutter stamps from my friend Trudy last year, and if you don't have some, you should get some!  They turn baking pie into pure fun.)
I love the decorative way they stamp the crust.
Seriously, Trudy could not have gotten me anything I would have loved more. I use these year round, but especially during this harvesty time of year.
I'm not actually a big fan of eating pie. I mean, I like pie... I just don't choose pie over other things... Pie can't compete with my love of chocolate.  But... if I've got to eat pie, one of my personal favorite pies is pecan pie.  Mmmmm.
I love how these little acorns perfectly dress up the simplicity of pecan pie.  Paired with my mama's flaky crust recipe, it's a win-win.
Pecan pie is like the Mary Poppins of pies.  Practically perfect in every way.
Everyone loves pecan pie, don't they?  And because I love you, I'll share this recipe just in case you need one.  Hmm.  I wonder if this one will make it in my freezer, until Thanksgiving...

Pecan Pie
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1c. light corn syrup
1c. sugar
2 tsp butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c pecans
1 unbaked pastry shell.
*In large bowl, stir the first 5 ingredients until well blended.  Stir in pecans.  Pour into pastry shell, and bake at 350 for 50-55 minutes, until knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes clean.  Cool.  Eat. Try not to lick your plate, people tend to think it's bad manners.

  5. Sweet, thank you for the recipe! They are such cute little pie-cutters! One of my happy childhood memories is of the cinnamon pie crust "cookies" my mom would make with the leftover crust.

    Yum!!!

  7. Pecan pie = my total fav!! I actually wrote a blog not too long ago about how much I love it and how I'm scared to DEATH to make it because I never have. I don't want to ruin the magic. Perhaps I'll have to try out your recipe and get myself over this pecan-less hump. :) Thanks!

  15. I think pecan pie tastes like dusty closets. However, with that cute little acorn trim, I would scarf that bad boy down.

Also, I was hoping you'd post your momma's crust recipe. Because I'm nosy like that.
