...and all through the house, not a creature was stirring...

I hesitated to post a ton of holly-decked-hall photos this year, because I figure that I post so many photos of my home y'all are probably sick of seeing it.  But because it's Christmas and all...
I'd like to state, for the record, that my home looked like this for a full forty minutes.  "How?" you may be asking.  A little thing I'd like to call quiet hour.  It's a peaceful, blissful thing, where my children relocate to their rooms to read, or play, or whatever.  And I do anything I want!  I spent the first twenty minutes cleaning, putting on Christmas music, and lighting candles.  Then I thought to myself, "Self, you'd better capture this on film, because in a few minutes, there will be dog toys strewn about, Christmas orange peels all over the counter top, and stuffed animals on parade."  So I did.  Don't you love the little letters on the TV cabinet?  I only had to buy the "y."  I got my inspiration for them at the place I get most of my inspiration-  here. (Layla, you rock!)  Also, I now have four matching chairs at my table.  The broken chair was fixed, and I'm a happy woman!  I love the distressed and chippy way they turned out.  People always ask if I'm in the middle of restoring them... which makes me laugh, since this is the look I was going for!
Lastly, I'd like to point out the darling standing lamp I found at Goodwill for a bargain price.  (Yes, I did paint it white and distress it.  I hate that you girls know me so well... but then again, I suppose that's a good thing. Ha!) Also, my huge glass-topped coffee table is up for sale on Craig's list (let me know if you're local and you want it.) and my brother made me this bench.  It's red for now, but I'm betting it will be painted no less than seven colors by this time next year.  I just can't always settle on things.  Perhaps in the Summer, I'll paint it sort of a misty blue... Of course, it'll probably end up white.  Ahem. Distressed white, that is.

What do you think?  Should I keep it red forever and ever?

Happy Hall Decking.

  2. Oh my goodness. I just noticed the red and white gingham napkins on your table in your sidebar. We used the SAME fabric as a runner on our table in our dining room!

    Great minds think alike...LOL. :-)

  7. You know I love the red! I like all your subtle accents...very sweet. I will miss seeing pictures of your house...so cozy and warm. I know you probably are hoping for a Christmas miracle in which all of your pictures are off an EMPTY house. Ha. Anyways, hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend.
