Bare and Clean... and brain-less.

I don't know what it is, but every time I get on here to write a post lately, I feel like I'm talking to one of my girlfriends.  I haven't met most of you in person, but maybe it's the fact that you guys feel "along for the ride" with us in this moving adventure?  Or the fact that whenever I need advice, I put out the word, and you guys all spill your collective wisdom into my comments box, delighting me with ideas?  (And thank you, by the way, for the amazing ideas for my new kitchen!  I can't wait to get my hands on it now that y'all have had your say!) Anyway, I've been having a blast playing around with my 50mm lens and my camera in manual, (even if I'm still trying to get the hang of it) except that there is nothing in my house to photograph these days!  That said, we had a burst of sunshine, so I whipped it out and started snapping so you guys could see just how boring and bare it is around these parts!  I thought it would give you a laugh.  I have fruit.  That is all.  Just fruit.

I actually can't believe I've gotten so much accomplished at this point, because my last book club book was The Hunger Games, and I devoured not only that book, but the following two in the trilogy.  Have you guys read it yet?  I really loved it, and now I've even got my man reading it.  In fact, tonight we're having a You Tube night, to watch all the funny trailers that people put together.  Do you guys ever do that?  Somehow in the midst of my reading frenzy I got a lot accomplished!  Adrain and I are a very efficient team, and we seem to run like clockwork.  That really comes in handy when you're about to move, let me tell you.  Total side note here, and don't ask me how I got from there to here, but is anyone else excited about Boston Rob being on the new season of Survivor?  He is my all time favorite survivor.  Hands down.  I know my man agrees...

My darling BFF Alli, just gave me three sets of creamy white curtains for my new house!  I was so excited, because they were exactly what I was wanting!  There is nothing better than castoff's from a friend. (I just found something out too, curtain rods are incredibly overpriced. Ikea: Don't let me down!)
Speaking of friends... have I told you guys that one of my other BFF's, Nurse Nicki, just got engaged?  The wedding is in July and it has our entire bookclub in an uproar, trying to plan it for her help her plan her wedding.  We couldn't be more excited.  And we want to do something fun/crazy/borderline obnoxious at her reception. Any ideas?  We are not above calling attention to ourselves in public settings.  (Hmm... maybe we should be.  Nah!)
Well, now that I've left you with the most random and scattered post I've ever written, I'll sign off and go pack something...
And then I'm off to meet up with this girl, and this girl!  Yippeee!

  1. I just professed my love for Boston Rob on my FB page! HA HA! The funny thing is though, my friend Bob won Survivor Gabon and now there is another friend on this year (Ashley)! I'd like to see her do well but I still have my ties to Boston Rob! :)

  11. i often think of how fun it would be to pack up my house and move. it's like decluttering every inch of your house and only moving the most precious things somewhere new. the thought of actually having to declutter my house just because it would be good for my family sounds like torture. but, moving sounds like so much more fun!

  12. curtain rod idea: Get a cheap dowel rod from home depot or the like. you can also get finials there too, i happen to get mine at menards. they will also have brackets. they usually come in unfinished wood or fake wood that you can paint. thats what i did for all our windows. even our huge picture window. works great!

  13. I started The Hunger Games at 10AM the day after Christmas. I finished The Hunger Games at 8PM the day after Christmas. :-)

I didn't read the other two quite so quickly!

My husband started last Thursday and finished the third book last night. He never...EVER...reads that fast. He was totally obsessed. To the point where he was reading it in bed. During our weekend mini-vacation. Need I say more?? Darn that Katniss! ;-)

Good luck with the rest of packing!

  18. You have achieved a LOT!! Moving can be really fun. What a change to go from a very modern contemporary home to one that is 100 years old. I'm really praying (for reals) that the house speaks to you about it's history and you get really inspired there. God cares about everything.
You feel like we are your girlfriends because we are. Isn't it cool? Some of the blogs I go to I have been visiting for a couple of years now. I wish I could meet some of them. Personally I like to move. It's a great way to purge stuff.

  24. OMG the hunger games! Two weeks ago I read all 3 books in 5 days.

Of course I didn't sleep. They really stuck with me. Everyone came out of it so broken. I passed them to my niece. I think I'll read them again sometime.
