Starfish Project and Giveaway!!!

Before we sold our house, I had been mulling over ideas about hosting some sort of party, showcasing the jewelry items that can be purchased from the Starfish project. Only we got an offer on our house, and now we are packing everything we own into boxes from Barnes and Noble so you guys are my party.  The Starfish Project is an organization that uses 100% of their profits to help the women who have been rescued from of a life of exploitation and abuse, in Asia.  Not only that, but those very same women, are the ones that hand craft these exquisite pieces. I decided that this year, I was going to purchase items from Starfish, for the many family birthdays and occasions that come my way,  because this is a cause I can really get into.  Do something good, give something pretty.  (This one is a gift for an upcoming birthday for someone I love dearly, but I had to share it with you anyway, so shhhhh!)
And yes... I did splurge and let myself have these moonstone teardrop earrings.  (Please ignore my gray hair closeup.  Thanks.)
And for you...my darling, encouraging, precious readers...  I have this purple hued wrap-around bracelet to give away to one of you! All you have to do in order to enter, is go visit the Starfish Project site and let me know what piece of jewelry you would buy for your best friend/sister/mother/in-law/other precious women in your life?

I'll announce the winner next week sometime!

  6. Or...to *buy* one of each. I don't know that, at this point in my life, I've reached the level where I start turning into jewelry myself. What level of enlightenment IS that, anyway?

    *blushing hotly*

Thanks for loving me despite my typos.

  38. I would buy my two best friends a starfish necklace - Karen's would be blue and Mandy's silver. I chose those because of the story of the starfish flinger. They both passionately give of themselves to make a difference everyday.

On a side note - my church just opened a coffee shop called the Cafe of Hope. They are taking ALL the profits and donating them to missions both here at home (scholarships for people trying to get their GED) and overseas. One of the main missions they have been working with is A21 Abolish Sexual Slavery in the 21st Century. We even have a little shop in the cafe selling things made by girls who have been rescued from sexual slavery and all the money from that and the tip jar go right back to the A21 mission.

The bracelet you are giving away is lovely too! How easy it is for us to stay cacooned in our own world, when there are so many others who need help. . .Thank you for opening my eyes once again!
