She wore a raspberry beret. The kind you find in a second hand store...

Road tripping requires packing.  Packing requires outfit coordinating.  Outfit coordinating requires pictures.  Pictures require blogging.  So here I am. (And yes, road tripping also requires Prince music.  It just does.  In fact, it might be a law.)  I don't post a lot on clothing.  Probably because 5 days out of 7, I find myself in black yoga pants, tee shirts, and tennis shoes, while keeping up with hoodlums and projects.  Over the past few months, I've slowly been overhauling my wardrobe to include accessories.  And cute tops.  And color.  (There was a time when I wore jeans and long sleeved black tee shirts incessantly.  Easy, but boring.) With out a lot of cash to spend on it, I've regularly perused the aisles of my favorite consignment store.  It's been so much fun!  So, here's what I'll be wearing this weekend...and I'll hook you up with links wherever I can.
First of all, I've decided that I don't wear enough everyday-style dresses. I told this to my man, and he and the kids picked out this fun little red number for Mother's Day.  It is darling with my cowgirl boots!  Here's the breakdown:
Dress: Eddie Bauer (new) On sale right now!
Cowgirl boots:  Old, comfy, go with everything. These were my faves. If you don't own any... you should!
Cropped jean jacket:  Old consignment find for $4.00
Long Butterfly Necklace: Old consignment find for $2.00
Short Pearl pendant necklace: Recently made by me, using a leftover pearl from this post. (Keep an eye out, a few of these pendants might be appearing in my upcoming Etsy collection.)
I was kind of unsure about the jean jacket when I nabbed it a few months ago.  I was almost about to ditch it because I couldn't find anything that I really liked it with, and it was just sitting in my closet.  That is, until this dress arrived in the mail!
I love the tiny white dots.  My man knows me well....

I don't know why, but I call this tee shirt my "Rocker tee."  I just got it the other day when my Mama and I hit the consignment store together.  It was so fun.  I ran around putting outfits together and sticking them through the curtain for her to try.  It's fun to boss your own Mama sometimes.  I'm pairing it with fun rippy jeans and cowgirl boots.  Breakdown:
Gray tee: Brand new consignment find, $2.99
Black cardigan: So very old.  I've had this since before kids!
Ripped up jeans: Vigoss brand by Maurices.  I got these a few months ago, because we just got a new Maurices store in our Mall, and I had a coupon.  I love them. (Right now, it's buy one get one 50% off!)
Dolce & Gabbana bag: Brand new consignment find that my Mama didn't want, so I snagged, for $12.00
White sunglasses: Consignment find at the beginning of spring for $3.00
Black cuff with butterfly: Becky made it for me and I love it!  You can get yours, here!
Earrings: I found these at my grocery store for about two bucks.
Okay, so this outfit was so much fun.  A few weeks ago, I had a store credit at my consignment store, and I found the cutest necklace right off the bat.  So I just wandered around until I had a top, bracelet, and bag to coordinate.  Shopping success! I plan to wear this with my rippy jeans (above)  and cowgirl boots.

Fun charm necklace: consignment $2.00
Olive green wooden bracelet: consignment $1.00
Short sleeved, cream knit top: consignment $2.99
Brown cardi: old, old, old.  I wear it all the time.
Brown tank top: old.
Huge, slouchy green bag: consignment- I think it was $6.00 but I got it for "free" since I had a store credit for all of this and I didn't pay much attention to the price to be honest.
This is my "alternate outfit."  You know, in case I spill salsa all over myself or something. You never know.  I found a plain blue, scoop neck tee at Target for $5.00, so I bought two and cut one up to make these flowers.  I used the technique I showed in this post
I actually got this bracelet last year on Mother's day.  I love color.  What can I say?  Anyway, I planned to wear this with the same jeans and boots.  So hopefully I don't spill any salsa on the jeans.

Navy cashmere cardi: consignment find last year sometime.  I can't remember the price, but under $10.00
Blue flowered tee: crafted by me.
Green slouchy bag: mentioned above
Multi-colored wrap bracelet:  Mother's day gift last year, from Maurices.  (I think I love that store.)

What are your favorite go-to outfits?  Do you love shopping or avoid it?  What are your favorite clothing stores?

  2. I love that you have a purse for each outfit! I am a total purse-a-holic, haha. I have never laid out outfits before going on a trip. I think I will when we go away in July. I usually end up taking way more clothes that I need, this will definetly make more room in the suitcase.

  7. You are so stinkin adorable! I LOVE every. single. one. of those outfits. I especially love all the butterfly accessories since they remind me of my sweet doll in Heaven. Can you come shop with me? :) I can't remember where you live, but since you have so many cardigans in the mix, I'm thinkin' it's not too terribly close to our 90 degree sweat shop here in the Houston area. :) Thanks for sharing the links and tutorials!

  10. How funny, I just posted about my go-to outfits today and how I find inspiration outfits and shamelessly copy them. You did the same (we have similar taste in cardigans it would seem) and created some gorgeous outfits for CHEAP!! Love it all, and that rocker tee sure looks FUN! Way to go on the consignment scores! I live in Orange County. I should be hitting up consignment stores for Real Housewives cast offs :)

  11. Wow your outfits are all so cute! My go-to outfits are always jeans and a t-shirt. I'm trying to be more creative when it comes to clothing, but I just can't seem to put anything together that looks cute. I hate shopping anyways, so all the clothes I have are from high school or college. I really should go shopping, huh?

Oh and I love that blue shirt!! I'm gonna have to steal that idea!

  12. Oh great now not only do I need to clean the house but I need to somehow find some smokin' hot outfits so as to NOT look like a slob next to you all weekend. Thanks a lot Sasha! You know, I don't have that lovely consignment shop nearby anymore. I'm on my own! Can't wait to see you even if I will end up looking like a slob next to you!

  17. First I have to tell you that I saw your title yesterday but didn't have time to read. Instead I walked around singing "He wore a raspberry souffle" and then giggling. I know the lyrics I just kept singin' wrong. Maybe I was hungry.

TJ Maxx/Ross/Marshalls - what can I say, broke and a bit cheap, but mainly broke.

  21. I totally love that charm necklace - awesome find! Your outfits look fabulous... your hubby won't want to keep his eyes on the road! ;)

I had to snicker when you said you got the earrings at the grocery store... Fred Meyer was always one of may fave places to go for cheap-yet-fabulous jewelry. I still try to stick my head in when we're down for a visit.

  22. this is completely unrelated to your post-- although your outfits are the cutest! But I was reading a blog Dizzy in the Noodle today and it hit me as one you could read and be blessed by...http://goodbaduglyandall.blogspot.com/2011/05/live-to-hilt.html

one quote off the page was "Wherever you are, be all there! Live to the hilt every situation you believe to be the will of God." -Jim Eliot

  25. I am totally in love with that dress- I love the white dots. Even consignment shops in my area are way more expensive.

That top was my favorite of the post and I cannot believe that you made that. I don't think I could do that. But I might actually try. Maybe.

I love cowgirl boots but I'm asian and I feel a little weird wearing them. Is that weird?
