Post entirely dedicated to the art of the Picnic.

I've always loved picnics.  Well, okay so maybe not always, but I've loved them ever since Adrain took my little seventeen year old self on one, complete with fried chicken, coleslaw, some frisbee, and a little bit of beach side canoodling.  That was a looooong time ago but I was hooked and we've been doing picnics ever since.

This weekend, my brother and his sweet wife decided to rescue us from our hoodlums for a little while, and the trade off, was that I send a picnic with them!  I thought I'd make it fun for my kiddos, and then it got to be so cute that I had to photograph it and share it with you. (You see, this is what happens when you're a blogger.)

Nothing says "picnic" like farm fresh cherries.  I have no idea why that is, but don't you agree?

I actually didn't have any of the right sized containers, so I hunted around in my cupboards and came up with two of these jars.  I'd actually been making some labels earlier in the week, and had some extras so I used them for the picnic.  I  know that even if my hoodlums don't appreciate it, (which is really quite likely) my sis-in-law surely will!  She's the kind of gal you wrap the gift extra pretty for!  (Incidentally, the colored twine that I used to wrap everything, is just yarn that I found on sale at JoAnn Fabrics.  I use this stuff in all different colors for everything!)

And of course, you can't have a picnic without some cookies and lemonade, right?  Sadly, (and I know I'm the Lemonade Makin' Mama and all) I had to go with Country Time Lemonade for this. (Lemonade bottle from Ikea) I know... I know.  It had been one of those weeks for me, and "fresh squeezed" just wasn't gonna happen.
Also, I confess, the cookies were from a sugar cookie mix.  (But I did add the sprinkles.)  Hey, you do what you've got to do, ya know?

I threw in some fun sandwich wraps for everyone- PB&J for my kids, and some spinach/sundried tomato cream cheese/roasted turkey ones for our precious rescuers.

And lastly... because you just never know.... I included this packet of bread.  Hungry ducks are scary.  You should always be prepared.  (giggle.)

May your picnics be yummy and your ants be few. (Or something like that.)
