Progress....

Oh friends, let me tell you, I am so in over my head!  Ha!  (Why does that seem so familiar?) I'm just popping on here quickly to update y'all before I collapse for the evening.  A few weeks ago, I decided to paint my kitchen white, because 1) I've been planning on doing that for about the past two years, 2) I already had the paint and primer because of the aforementioned planning, and 3) We took our house off the market and since I'm going to live here, I may as well commit to making it my kind of beautiful, and lastly 4) I'm an idiot who previously had no idea the magnitude of a kitchen revamp.
I'm spending hours dreaming of this.  My comfortable bed and 300 thread count sheets.  My muscles are aching from all the sanding, beadboard hanging, and priming, but it's looking amazing so far, so I know it's going to be well worth it.  (Plus that's what you peeps keep telling me on Facebook and I'm holding you to that!)

I promise to give the play-by-play when I've got it all done and in the past.  So far, we've wrapped our island in beadboard, adhered beadboard to the sides of all the cabinets, and yanked out the wood centers in two of my cupboard doors so we can get glass inserts put in them.  (Did you know how incredibly affordable that is?  It's like $5.00 a square foot for glass!  And they do it all for you if you bring in the cabinet with the wood center cut out! Why did I not do this before?)  Also, remember my Ikea light fixture?  It's (hopefully) going above my sink this weekend!  And my countertops... well, just wait til I get back to you on that one...could be a fun surprise!  It's going to be a kitchen I never leave.
Oh wait... It's already a kitchen I never leave.

G'night peeps.

  1. I can't wait to see it - you have the cutest house anyway :)

If it makes you feel any better - laundry can make me feel in over my head, so i'll just forget about a kitchen re-vamp. Even though one of my girlfriends says she's going to come over and paint my cabinets white if i don't....hmmmm....there's a thought.

  4. glad to hear you've decided to paint your kitchen white! I tend to paint most things white and it always looks so much fresher! My husband and I revamped our baby blue and tan kitchen (yuck!) last spring and we couldn't be happier with it. Good luck, the hard work will pay off!

  5. Oh, you're just going to love it when it's done! All I did in my kitchen was paint the walls, and just that (and the newly painted living room) made me realize that I really do love this house! I'm sure it's just what you need after the disappointment of not moving. Can't wait to see what it looks like!
