Cel-e-brate good times, c'mon!

One of my dearest friends is about to tie the knot.  I am giddy with excitement.  I'll talk more about that in just a second.  But I have to keep you guys posted on what I talked about in my previous post- and oh my word, the responses I got from some of you... I just love you guys.

First of all.  I don't have space to explain all the details behind yesterday's post and today's, but suffice it to say God is very much working in our situation, and I can see it all of a sudden.  Do you remember the post I wrote about a year ago, about the clock, and how when you're looking at the front, waiting for the hands to move, it can seem like nothing is happening.  But if you're watching the backside of it, there are gears moving and going crazy to make that one small hand move?  I'm pretty sure I just got a glimpse of the gears yesterday... and I've got to say this to any and all of you who have been watching our story for the past year.  I thanked God both last night and early this morning that we didn't get that house, as much as I loved it and pined for it.  If we had, we'd be up a creek-no paddle right now.  No way we could have seen the events we are in right now unfolding, but oh man... it could have been a bad situation.  I can't wait til I can explain that further.  And I'm actually laughing out loud at the creativity of God on getting us out of the sale of that house with the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes thing... only God could have orchestrated that one. (And for those of you who have asked... Yes.  Yes, it really did happen.  Our buyer offered cash, and we later found out she had mistakenly thought she had won the PCHS.  Days before moving, we had to unpack our entire house.  It was sad, weird, and it really happened.)

Also, our prayers are being answered, but not at all the way we thought they would be.  How many of you encouraged me with those exact words along the way?  Ah truth...
On the wedding front- we are doing the two day countdown around here... (I can't wait to post photos! Right now, you'll have to console yourself with the gift I made her.  I decided to stain an old board instead of go with my typical white- and I loved it!! You can always order one of these from me-information is on my sidebar.) and all I can think about is the fact that the zipper on my bridesmaid dress is going to burst away from the fabric, since it's having some sort of fraying issue. (Brand new dress- but the zipper teeth are actually pulled slightly away from the zipper in one part! What on earth??)  I would have exchanged it for a dress with a good zipper, only I just realized it when I went to try it on this week, and by then, all the dresses were out of stock.

So now, I'm freaking out.  And going to visit a seamstress tomorrow thanks to my friend Betsy hooking me up.  I may or may not be eating anything for the next two days out of fear too. I'll keep ya posted.  (I packed needle, thread, safety pins, and a wrap just in case.) I swear this is the sort of thing that happens to me.

But.
I'm going to celebrate!  Celebrate that something is finally happening in my world, and Nurse Nicki is marrying Todd.

  1. Sasha,
I love our posts. You are so transparent with us and always remind us that God is in control when we tend to forget.

I am so glad you are seeing how God had his hand over everything this past year. I always think it's cool to look back on the journey and see how he has brought us through. It's so much easier to see how he orchestrated everything when we get to the other side.
Sorry for writing a novel. I think your dress will be fine. All will turn out ok. Enjoy!

  9. good luck with the dress! Once I dropped the back of my bridesmaid's dress into the toilet just minutes before walking down the isle. I panicked! And then walked down the isle dripping as I went.

I really like the sign with the dark stain. It gives it a whole new look.
