So EXCITING!!!!

Okay I have not figured this drop-the-kids-off-at-school-do-all-your-errandrunning-cooking-cleaning-etsymaking-banking-groceryshopping-runningwithdog thing out.  You'd think it would come very easily... but I miss my babies.  I feel like my arms have been cut off or something.  (I know... that was a little over the top dramatic there.)   That said, everyone is very happy and adjusting (with exception of a small one's meltdown in a puddle of exhaustion last night) and this feels really good for our family right now.  So I suppose I'll figure it out.  I'm so afraid of missing pickup time or something so I'm running around all scatterbrained!
Oh, but the fun thing is, I did my first ever "alone mom" thing.  (I have no idea how else to explain it.) I went to the hair salon and got a much needed color adjustment and trim while they were in school- no tagalongs!  I now have hair the color of a caramel apple. (This photo doesn't do it justice at all.  (Also please take note of the super soft flashdance-esque sweater and let's all have a 1980's comeback giggle.)

Now, I have to go run one more errand and then.... oh then... I'm spending the next two days creating, finishing your custom orders and unless one of my girlfriends buys it, I'm going to have the cutest chalkboard to add to Etsy, along with a more "eat" napkins and "give thanks" napkins and runners!   (I'm sorry but my local girlfriends often pick through and buy stuff before it gets listed and of course they take the cutest things!!) Oh, but speaking of cute things...the cutest thing ever is coming soon.... seriously I've been dreaming about it!!!
So anyway... this is what I'm missing.  Goofy little faces.  How long is it going to take for me to settle into this routine you guys??  Any advice?

  2. Firstly, love your new color. You look fabulous.
Secondly, I can totally relate to what you are saying about getting everything done while the kids are in school so you are there for pickup time. Once you get settled in YOUR everyday routine, you won't feel so frantic about pick up time.
So glad you you enjoyed some "mom alone time." feels good doesn't it?
Enjoy the rest of your day!

  3. I just quit my teaching job and am now a stay-at-home quilter with one school age child. I totally love it. It's so nice getting my errands run without help. And by "help," I mean someone complaining about how long it's taking to {insert erroneous errand}.

I love the hair. The length and the color. It suits you. Well, it suits the you that I think I know since I don't really know you. You know?

LOL, two comments in two days. I'm on a roll.

  7. Doesn't it feel great to get your hair done?
& I don't know the answer to how long it takes?? "They" say that our identities aren't supposed to be wrapped up in our kids...but, I have a hard time seperating being a Mama and just being Me. ;/

  8. our school plays a sick joke on kindergarten parents. For the 1st 2 wks we have to pick them up at 12:30 then go back for the big kids at 2:20. I haven't had enough time to have an "alone mom" day yet, but I'm counting down until next week when regular pick up starts!!

  10. got the same adjustment going on here too. kids in school for the first time ever. they are loving it and I actually started to feel guilty for enjoying this time alone. ( though I still have a 4 yr old with me.) slowly adjusting, same fears as you, will be late to pick up time and end up paying a fee or something.

  11. Three years and I'm STILL not used to it! Then there's early release every Thursday and now that I take lunch to them twice a week to help with the whole autoimmune issues--and two different lunch times. . .I'm always running: )Thanks for stopping by--I'll be posting my purchases in my big reveal: ) Granite should be finished tomorrow!! Then maybe my sanity--then again, probably not!! Lol.

  12. Can't help you on that one, I have my boy home and plan to keep it that way. Glad your lil' ones are doing well with the new schedule. Maybe you need to make yourself a schedule too? They keep us focused!

  13. Your hair looks great! Love the photo of your hoodlums too. Ever since I stopped working I seem to have no time management and I thought I was very organized. At the end of the day, I'm disappointed in myself. You will start enjoying your freedom and still miss them at the same time.
    Blessings on your new routine!

  14. Can I just say....you deserve some "me" time and DON'T feel guilty about it. (Easier than said, I know!) Truly, I have finally adjusted (with having a senior, sophomore, 7th grader and 5th grader) and God has taken away my guilt in making me aware that now I am getting all the "stuff" done while they are at school....that way I totally look forward to them coming home each day and dedicating more quality time with them.

  15. Your hair is lovely! I always have a nagging feeling in the back of my head that I am going to forget to pick up a child..you're not alone. :-) I try to do all of my errands on one day a week...then I can sit on the couch and eat Bon Bons all day while watching Soap Operas the rest of the week! (The errand thing IS true!)

  16. I can't seem to get ahead either girlfriend...i feel so overwhelmed! I think it will probably take a good month for you to get the routine down "pat"....your hair looks beautiful--around here we joke and say "girl--you got your hair did"...LOL

  17. I like the new hair! Of course you are BEAUTIFUL no matter what! AS for the adjustment, it is hard... We are 2 solid weeks into the routine of school, and still adjusting. However, I promise you get better at it, and then as Christmas break comes, and you take the hoodlums somewhere you think - "How did I do this all the time!" Treasure the alone time for what it is, and treasure more the moments of bliss when they come home.

  18. I have a love/hate relationship with school. I will say I love the quiet but when I have them home for a few days I get sad I have to send them off again. When my youngest goes to school I might have a coronary. My friends with older kids tell me I will LOVE it but I'm not convinced!!

Glad everyone is getting adjusted though! :)
