Busy... inspiration... etc.

I haven't forgotten about you guys.  I promise!  But this week, I have been so busy I haven't had much time for photographing much of anything or blogging.  (Oh and please pray for us... some interesting things cropped up in our life... possibly GOOD things... but unable to get into it yet!)  I decided my little craft room (Dare I call it my studio?  I so badly want to call it that... but feel a person must be truly artsy to earn that privilege!!) was getting overrun with bits and pieces of junk and clutter, and disorganization.  Gasp! So I stopped the presses so to speak, and dug in.  (Incidentally, has anyone else always wanted to walk into a room and yell, "STOP THE PRESSES!"  Or is that just me?)
Also.  Martha Stewart makes turquoise chalkboard paint.  And a sort of muddy gray color as well.  My craft world has been officially rocked in the best way possible.  Just FYI.

I was reading this article from some big Etsy guru and it told me that I need to be stocking up and preparing for the month of December.  Ha!  Well... I took it half seriously.  This will be my first holiday season with Etsy, but I'm only one girl, and I can only do so much, so I sat down, brainstormed, went shopping for more supplies than I've ever bought, decluttered and streamlined my "studio" (giggle) and then I gathered my inspiration, and have been working ever since.  The thing is, I've got harvest on the brain and a bad case of pumpkinloveitis, so it's hard to start thinking about swathing the house in evergreens and red ribbons.
That said, I tried... I plunked a few of my inspirational items atop my newly cleaned out cabinet, and had myself a starting point.
As an aside, does anyone else besides me, love jars of jingle bells, turquoise and red, and little trees tied with metal house numbers from Lowe's?  I feel inspired.  I think I can do this now...

I hate to always talk so much about Etsy on here all. the. time. for fear that what  you hear me saying is, "blahblahblahblahblaw...waahwahwahhwaahwahwah."  But... the truth is, I'd never have even considered jumping in to Etsy, if it wasn't for your overwhelming support, and inspiration, so there you go.  Plus you guys are hands down my favorite customers!  (Insert, Chicago's, "You're the inspiration," here.)  Which is why I give you first peeks.  That said... I'm excited, because I have some fun ideas... some returning favorites, some cute gift boxes (per Etsy guru's advice) and some fantastically sweet and whimsical things coming- one of which actually came to me in a dream.  Yes... I dreamed I was creating something.  When I awoke, I went, "Ahhhhah!"  (I'll give you a hint... think burlap.)
The thing is, I'm doing it once, and then once things are sold, I'm not going to let myself restock anything until after the holidays.... because it's a good boundary that I must draw for myself ahead of time or I'll be in trouble.  I don't want to be scurrying and hustling all December long and then miss it.  I only get one holiday season with a ten and eight year old.  So, I'll be listing everything November 1st and hopefully it'll be a hit with you guys... my favorite peeps!
Okay I've got to get off here and get cracking on one of those trendy red cross looking pillows.  That's just for fun, for the chair that sits in here!  (I'll show ya later.) Plus, I've got date night tonight with Mr. 6 feet of handsome.  We're going to see "Courageous."  Anyone else seen it yet?

Happy Weekend dear friends!!

  3. OOH, love your Christmas ideas on your armoire. Love the colors too. Christmas is my fave holiday next to easter. I can't believe it's just around the corner.
I like your work ethic aobut making things just once and not restocking. You should be able to enjoy your family during the holidays too. Good choice my friend.
We saw Courageous last weekend and it's by far the best movie that Sherwood pictures has put out. Yoiu will laugh, cry, be moved and inspired. Stay all the way till the end of the picture through the credits though....right to the very end...you know where they show the trademarks. You will enjoy the message at the very end. I thought WOW! I wish I could see that at the end of every movie.
Enjoy date night with your hubby!

  6. Yes we went to see it last weekend!! You're gonna love it!! I decided it would be easier to count the scenes that I DIDN'T cry in!! Of course it didn't make it any easier that my hubby is a police officer so that shoot out scene got to me. But I loved the "snake kings" scene!!
