In the mood for a little chat...

I saw a big, fat, raccoon yesterday down by my mailbox.  It terrified me.  I was so afraid it was going to come bite me, give me rabies, and my children would come home to find me frothing at the mouth, mad with fever.  (Admittedly, I do worry about mostly pointless things 99% of the time.)  Luckily, it only stared at me while I loudly proclaimed, "I'm not afraid of you!"  And then it waddled back into the trees.

I don't like raccoons.

Our power went out last night, as we were clearing dinner away.  It was the most fun.  I lit every candle in my house (which is an extensive amount of flaming wax if I do say so myself) and then my man read The Hunger Games out loud for an hour.  I was almost disappointed when the power flickered back on about the time the kiddos needed to head to bed... but then I realized it had come on just in time for Survivor.  Good timing.

Sometimes, I'm too lazy to make actual cookies, so I press the dough into a baking dish and create bars.  It always causes a stir.  My children think I invented that.  (I use this gluten free peanut butter cookie dough recipe, then when it's just come out of the oven, sprinkle the top with chocolate chips, cover it for a second, then swirl them all around as they melt. Mmmmmm!)

I decided to get all my Christmas shopping done yesterday. That got me thinking about the fact that I needed to come up with something for my Christmas photo cards.  So here's the thing... I don't really like being like everyone else... I don't want to choose the same Costco template as fourteen other people I know.  (Not that there's anything wrong with that... I'm just saying... I like a little originality for my own.)  So anyway, I plunked my photo into Picnik, and tweaked, tweaked, and tweaked away.  I added a frame, snowflakes here and there, text, and big gray dots... then I used a blank Costco template and that was that.  I'm so happy with the results!  Something fun and original... and very "me."

Lastly, tomorrow is my anniversary.  I had to end on this photo of our wedding day, sixteen years ago.  Gosh we were such babies!  The only thing that could possibly make me love my man more today than I did yesterday... would be him taking me to see Twilight's Breaking Dawn on our wedding anniversary.  (And yes, you may judge me for being a thirteen year old girl at heart.  I can take it. Heh, heh  And no, he probably won't do it.  But I'll love him anyway.)

Okay so what's everyone doing to get ready for Thanksgiving?  We are going to my parents house, since they invited us!  I'm bringing gluten free pie, and a bacon-blue cheese dip that makes you want to curl up and die.  I mean that in the very best way possible.

  3. I just love the wedding photo! Too cute! I'm right there with you....three of us "teens" are headed out tonight at midnight to catch the movie. It's girl's night set in stone.

Thanksgiving for us is house hopping. It's fun when you don't have a child....after, not so much. I think I need to start a rotation schedule or something.

Hope you have a beautiful anniversary!

  13. Happy Anniversary! I'm going to Breaking Dawn tomorrow and I'm not afraid to admit it! My friends and I are a bit scared about going opening night with all those lovestruck teens.

Loved hunger games as well. If you want some great book recommendations, I have tons. I'm always pre-reading all those teen books before I decide if my daughter can read them or not (my excuse). She is 11 1/2 so no Twilight yet.

    Have a great anniversary tomorrow!

  18. I love your card! Are you sending them out again? If so, I hope we're on your list!

This year my friend who makes custom Christmas cards (and sells them on etsy: Made By Meredith) made mine for me for free! She wanted to use some of my photography images on her sample cards, and so we did a trade. It worked out great and I love my cards.

  19. I recently had the ladies in my bible class over for an ornament making party. Several of the ladies are gluten free so one of the things I made were your peanut butter chocolate bar cookis. They were wonderful! A big hit with the gf and the non gf alike. :)
