Lighting it up

Last year, we didn't put up any outdoor lights.  With our house on the market, it just seemed pointless.  But this year, we decided that regardless of our house status, we wanted to do it for us.  There is nothing like driving around the corner of your street and seeing your house, all lit up for the holidays.  So cheery and fun!
I even put our little nutcracker outside.  I haven't brought him out for several years... but I tucked him right into the sweetest little corner by our front door.
I think it's so cute, watching my guys hang lights.  I love how Adrain includes JJ, patiently instructing, and letting JJ help.
I snuck out and took a few photos...
 Just feeling so festive!
We didn't do anything spectacular... just a few fun touches here and there to welcome us home this month.
This is the wreath we've hung on our garage for the past few years.  JJ was so cute- he just popped his little face right into the middle and grinned at me.  I didn't even have to pose him!
And the best part, is when it gets dark.  Look in our front window- see JJ's excited little face?  I love the magic of this time of year.
There's just something about twinkle lights, isn't there?  Do you decorate the outside of your house?  Do you go Clark Griswold, or just hang a few lights like we did?

  3. We usually start off grudgingly putting a few lights up. Then they make the cottage feel more fun so we put up a few more. Then we feel more in the spirit of things so we layer in some others until finally everything looks twinkly and magical like Christmas should. I don't know why we don't just go for it in the first place? Your lights have just the perfect touch to make your place feel special.

  8. I need to get out and put the lights on my house, my 9 year old did some but I don't think they will stay up until Christmas unless I go out and do some fixing up!

  15. Your porch and house look so welcoming! I giggled at the reference to the Griswolds - hilarious! We do classic 70's multicolored lights. In the back my boys string them across the patio cover - Charley Brown like so I can see them from the kitchen window. I love it!
