So sweet...

It's tradition.  Every Valentine's day, I make a decadent dessert for my family.  We set the table with cute things, get dinner all ready, and then dive into our dessert first!
I still remember the look on my hoodlum's faces the first time I gave them permission to do this.  I think they were about four and two, and the dessert was molten lava cake.  (I don't know what recipe I used, sadly) They didn't need to be told to dig into that gooey chocolatey treat twice, and they giggled the whole time, feeling sure they were getting away with something.  Now we do it every year and it's always fun.
I nabbed a couple of pots de creme, topped with whipped cream and some of our leftover heart-shaped marshmallows, and snapped some photos of them before we inhale them.

You may recognize some of the sweet mugs that I personalized from this tutorial.  I'm still having a blast with this, slowly creating a unique set for my cupboard!  If you haven't tried them yet, you'll love this project.
Also, I only have a few sets of these adorable gray eat napkins left, but if you'd like to nab one while they are still in stock, click here! They are quickly becoming some of my new favorite items.
This is the recipe I chose... but I am pretty sure next year I'll use this one instead. Mmmmm.
Happy Valentine's Day sweet things!!

Do you have any sweet traditions for Valentine's day?

(thank you to everyone who entered my giveaway on Facebook!  I hope to be hosting another one over there soon... I think it's going to be a really good one too!  I'll be announcing a winner today.)

  3. My son isn't big on VD cards so I made him homemade peanut butter cookies with a Dove dark chocolate piece on top. He will find a couple in his lunch today! My husband is diabetic so I will make him some sugar free brownies. I love the idea of eating dessert first! And the grey napkins are wonderful..I am thinking of getting the black ones, though.

  4. Since my two oldest were little, I have sent their lunches to school with heart shaped sandwiches, cookies, whatever I can use a cookie cutter on. Now that they are in high school, I add just a heart chaped candy..don't want to embarrass them TOO badly. Have a great day!
