Coming up for air

Okay darlings... I've been swamped with birthdays (two in this week- who's idea was that anyway?) but still really chewing on a TON of good stuff... I had been so bogged down the months of Jan- March and with our vacation turning crazy and Lucy's death and life just spinning some weird directions on me, I realized that I've been keeping the heart-to-hearts at a minimum.  Sometimes when you see a flurry of crafty and foodie posts in my world, it's a bit of a stiff arm cause I'm stirring something around in my little ol' heart but not ready to share it.  I'll hope to organize a few of my thoughts soon because I think I'm into some good stuff here!  In the mean time, I'm preparing for parties and I wanted to toss a few new photos out that I just edited on Picmonkey!  Loving that site!  (Plus it will make my bloggy buddy Jana happy.  So Jana... here are my blue photos as promised.  MANY more will be coming soon as the parties unfold.)
I desperately needed a cute and inexpensive decoration for my Ava.  She delights in things like flowers and pretties so I went to the old fall back tissue paper flowers.  Can't go wrong with these can you?
She was so excited when she got home from school and saw them waiting on the table.  Apparently, I'm "the best mom on the whole planet."  (grin)
Ava is having two cakes.  One small one for her friend party and one larger one she is sharing with her Daddy, that family will eat later that night.  It's going to be fun.  Fun's important.
And I promise more on ALL of this later...(links, tutorial links and recipes) this is just a teaser.  She requested vanilla bean sugar cookies.  Yes, vanilla bean.  Oh that child...
It's going to be an action packed weekend.  I'm looking forward to showing you more party fun!

Don't forget about this special offer- only about 2 weeks left to take advantage!

  1. Thanks so much for the introduction to Picmonkey. I have been using Picnik and they are going away tomorrow. Picmonkey looks like a good alternative.

    1. Okay but here's the thing Jana... it's NOT ALWAYS like that. It only looks like that when the sun is SHINING. Not something that we get a lot of around here with any kind of regularity.. you know, rain and all that jazz. Most of the time my house is dark and gray. I can kind of fake it a little bit at the right time of day with a wide open aperature but basically when we have a sunbreak I grab my camera as fast as can be and start snapping. LOL

  13. Hang in there! I know what you're talking about when you say you have things rattling around in your heart... I'm on a similar page right now. But, those paper flowers are super cute. I just took all of my primary colored ones down from my littlest one's birthday in February. They just seemed to make an awesome addition to the bright yellow and window-filled playroom.

    Happy birthday, Ava!

  16. The flowers are great, I can't wait till you teach us to make those, or did I miss that? I love, love the color of the icing, how beautiful. Can you imagine if we could have all the time we want and need to be creative and make beautiful things for the special people (and all people) in our life? Imagine the smiles we would create. ;)
