Dog Days...

My man is spending the day with his sweet little Grandma today, and I've been relaxing in the weird 80 degree + heat we're experiencing her in the Pacific NW.  (I know there are many of you laughing at our melting in 80 degree weather.  Hey, we're more accustomed to rain, gray, drizzle, and 60 degrees.  I didn't say we liked it... it's just what we know.)  I've been thinking about all of the things I'm thankful for right now and I wanted to share them with you guys.
First, I'm thankful for swim lessons.
Thankful that they are over... no more hurry-scurry mornings for the next month until school begins.

And I'm especially thankful that both of my hoodlums have achieved some basic swimming skills that they were too fearful about previously.  We worked HARD.  Faces got wet.  And thankfully, there were no tears... not even once.  Just brave can-do attitudes.

I'm thankful for our garden.  It's been a good one this year and we've been able to give a ton away to friends, which thrills me to the core.
I'm thankful for the fact that  flowers are coming out my ears.  Ava and I planted a cutting garden box this year and it's been my favorite summer thing, to date.  We've given dozens of bouquets in mason jars away... and there are bouquets on every surface and room.  Ha!

I'm thankful to be planning and packing for my annual girls getaway weekend.  We leave early Friday morning and I've been blessed beyond measure with these bookclub girls.  Also.  We will be riding horses.  I think I've laughed a million laughs at that thought.  It may be the most hysterical thing we do all weekend.  (I haven't been on a horse since I was a little girl, living in Montana!)
I'm thankful for this... the time has come and I believe we'll be adopting a sweet little furry addition to our family in the coming weeks... though it's a lot like having a baby again... and I'm not sure I'm prepared.  Ha!
I'm thankful because it's been so hot around here. The weather's been exceptionally warm as well.  (grin.)

I'm thankful that construction is over.  Finally.  I'm thankful that the idea in my head for barn lights turned out exactly as I imagined it... because there were honestly a lot of people who love me raising eyebrows as I described it to them... but it's like the idea in my head became a realization.  Lovely.  I've still got four trim boards to finish in my room, but then I'M officially done for August.
I'll be taking the entire month off to do nothing.  NOTHING.  I probably won't even cook dinners and scrub toilets.  Ha! (Okay you know I will... because I can't stand a dirty house.)  I am trying not to be tempted to work on the growing pile of fun Etsy supplies my studio is beginning to acquire in anticipation for a Fall stock-up.  But my goal is nothing.  I mean, to do nothing, that is.

I'm thankful for the sweet little gift from one of my sidebar sponsors and I couldn't believe how darling they were!  These coasters came wrapped in a pretty blue yarn tie with a tiny wood "B".  Cute packaging is never lost on me...

...I promptly tied it around a candle and it reminds me to be thankful for the sweetness of my readers, (YOU) every time I see it...
I also just ordered this item from her shop and am thankful for fun finds.
I'm thankful for lazy days.

And I'm thankful for each moment, however silly, heartfelt, fun, sad, or otherwise.  I'm thankful just to be.
I'm also thankful... that I've got an amazing giveaway to offer you guys soon! Hopefully I'll have it all together by the middle or end of this week.  You won't want to miss out!

What are you thankful for today?

  1. I was recently in a car accident (not my fault!) and it totalled my car (the impact was hard enough to knock the diamond right out of my engagement ring and squash the prongs - traumatic, that) but I am so thankful that I came through with only bumps and bruises and while I was not anticipating having to buy another car, it could have been so much worse. I absolutely love your barn lights...your vision worked out well! Can't wait to see what kind of fur-ball you adopt. :)

  3. I'm thankful for a lazy, lazy Saturday -- well, that means I didn't leave my house except to get the mail. I caught up on laundry and toilet cleaning after a busy week. Today, I enjoyed great worship with my family, and a yummy lunch with lots of laughs. Then, afternoon adventures w/ my sweet hubby and daughter. It's been a great weekend, and I'm looking forward to a quieter week than last week! Love your photos as always sweet Friend! ~Sally

  6. We have so much to be thankful for! This weekend I am thankful for time with my family. Time when I had nowhere to be and nothing that had to get done. Leisurely cooking, board games, and chats. I am thankful for the people I know who take their faith seriously and are always good for a deep discussion.

Can't wait to hear more about a DOG for you guys!

  7. Over 2 months ago I suffered an injury and now I'm looking at 6 months to a year for full recovery......kind of an inconvenience for a mama of 3 young kiddos. Soooo....I am extremely thankful for a very generous husband who is making this time seem bearable with freely giving of his time, gifts, and patience!

And so thankful for your serene blog :)

  9. I am thankful for a million things over this summer :) God's blessings seem to be abounding the past few week's and I love when I take NOTICE of all that goodness :)

I am also a stinker and was totally thankful to see from one of your beauty shot's that you have stuff atop your fridge!! Whew!! ;) I am barely getting to ONE task of refinishing a picture frame for a print I purchased...truly, it's taken me weeks. I like to think (*ahem* blame, point the finger at...) my two year old little man. I tell he has something to do with my lack of 'getting done" ha ha! You remember those days, right?! lol But, yes...it made me smile to see, "EVEN LMM has a few items tucked atop her fridge!!" I love ya for it. Truly. It blessed my day.
