It's mostly about the monkey bread. I'm just sayin'

I wanted to get a quick post up with some sweet photos before this weekend, as I'll be gone, celebrating Christmas with my extended family, in a cabin out in the middle of nowhere.  Okay it's not really nowhere... but it's out there.  We're hoping for snow.
We have a couple coming to house sit for us and dog-sit little Miss Daisy.  Have I mentioned how much I love our guest room?  Have I also mentioned how giddy it makes me to have it get used?  Fluffy white towels, crisp clean sheets, cozy blankets... LOVE!!   I wish I could run a Bed and Breakfast.  That's a huge dream of mine for someday... and you just never know.
I found the sweetest sparkly garlands... a little gold and silver, and hung them above the bed for a little special Christmas sparkle. (Target)
You can't really see it well, but there's a little glittery turquoise deer head with the word "MERRY" framed beside the lamp.  (Those are going in my shop next year!!)
I'm sorry... I just love it in here. Okay moving on....
As we get ready to go, I'm cleaning, doing laundry, packing and baking, since this is our big holiday celebration for my side...My mama's bringing the tree and I'm bringing the games.  It's gonna get wild people.  Wild I tell you.  We might even stay up until midnight.
My hoodlums threw a little fit until I agreed to make our traditional Christmas morning breakfast early... monkey bread.  If you have never made it... girl, make it! (Sorry, and guys too... don't mean to leave the few of you who read out of course.)
Anything with scoops of dough dropped into a cinnamon sugar mixture, then drizzled with more butter, sugar and maple syrup mixture can't go wrong... right? Who's with me?
Heaven in a pan, whether you're gluten intolerant or NOT!
I put mine into a pie pan for ease of transporting and also because the syrup runs all over the place and makes a huge, delicious mess.  Recipe found here.
Also, if you follow me on Instagram (@Lemonademakinmama) you know I had two cupcake pans explode in my oven a few days ago and experienced a huge baking FAIL.  I was so mad because they had an entire package of Andes mints melted into them.  This was take two.  I went with two six inch baking pans, filled them with a chocolate mint ganache and frosted them with a ruffly imperfect minty green colored butter cream.  I don't know if it will be any good because I have never tried this recipe before... but it was desperate times.  At least we'll have the baby Jesus cake for our Christmas celebration.  (Do you do a baby Jesus birthday cake?)  Recipe found here.

Okay I'm off to pack... what are you guys up to?

Your Christmas get together with family sounds like it will be wonderful. There is nothing better than food, fun and family this time of year.
That monkey bread looks heavenly! I started a new tradition last year with homemade cinnamon rolls.
I too enjoy fixing the guest bedroom for our friends and family. We often talk about owning a B&B someday. : )
Have a safe trip and a blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year!

Last year I made monkey bread and added crumbles of bacon. It was all primal grunts and inappropriate groans all around.

You know, if you're into that kind of thing. ;p

I am making the Monkey Bread for Christmas morning. Yummy! Your guest room oozes comfiness, love and home. So pretty! We do make a baby Jesus birthday cake as well. I am getting ready to have 6 teenagers come over for pictures and appetizers before their Christmas dance... a bit bittersweet since my son is a senior.
