A little Father's Day gift idea and shop talk

After the thoughts I've been having about my sweet kiddos and the topic I posted on previously, I have been so aware of how short this time period is.  It's like I can see them growing taller every morning.  It's funny, because even though they are both almost as tall as I am, they still need to crawl up on my lap for mama cuddles sometimes.  I could eat that up with a spoon.  Until my leg falls asleep.  Ha!

I loved reading your comments, some of you who are a bit ahead, some who can completely relate and some who either don't have kiddos or have small ones and can't imagine them ever growing up and leaving home.  I love the variety of perspectives y'all bring.  Anyway, I've been mulling over the idea of truly savoring every bit of the time I've got left with them as I prepare to temporarily close down my wee shop for the summer.  I don't have much listed right now, but it will be nice to devote that extra bit of time it takes toward some memory-making this summer.  (And is it just me, or is summer way shorter than it used to be?)  (I'll re-open in September and begin making Christmas garlands and other returning favorites!)
This shop has been the biggest blessing to my family over the past year and a half and has made all the difference. You, my beloved customers, continue to overwhelm and bless us with your business. I know I say that all the time... but as I package up your orders in brown wrap and stripey twine, scribble a little thank you note on the backside of a mini art print, I stop and think, "Thank you Lord for providing through these amazing people that I think of as friends."  Every single time.  I am so thankful for you!

I am planning for a close date of June 17th.

I just listed a batch of these sweet Lobster flour sack dish towels.  They have been a favorite of mine since I made them last year.  They seem like such a summer item.  This is the only batch I'm making until I reopen after the summer, so when they sell out, they are gone. Sad, I know.

Anyway, as I was getting things ready in the shop this weekend, I had the idea to put together a cute Father's day gift basket. In case you  were looking for an idea this might help inspire you!  (And aren't we always looking for an inspiring gift idea for the guys in our life?  Why are dad's so difficult to buy for?)

For my guy, it's a couple of icy cold cokes, BBQ sauce, a new BBQ basting brush, some chips (and yes I got them because they are in a cute burlap bag which he won't care about) and one of my lobster dish towels.   You can get yours here.

(If you changed up the tag, this would be a sweet gift to bring to a July 4th BBQ too!)

Lastly, I had a few cancellations and therefore have just a few ball jar flour sack dish towels left in stock.  I will bring them back in September, but if you think you might need one for a gift or yourself at some point this summer... grab em now!  (I also have a few irregular towels at half price listed too.  Love those.  They're like the ugly baby of my shop.  You don't want to make them feel bad.  Ha!) So that's it... I close shop in 14 days!

Thank you, thank you, thank YOU!  And thank you for putting up with all the shop talk...sometimes it's necessary in order to keep you in the loop.  I am hoping the cute gift basket photos will make up for it.  (grin)

What are you giving to the father in your life?

  1. Enjoy your summer with your kiddos, I know our 2 that are 7 and 9 (adopted soon) are growing so fast and just the 8 months they have been with us there is such a change in them. ~sighs~

  2. I have no idea what to get my husband. I'm now thinking a BBQ theme though! I'll have to skip on the cute lobster dish towel because he can't stand lobster (and he's from Maine-CRAZY!). They are so cute! Enjoy your time off with your kids.

  5. Have a great summer with your little ones! I found a Father's Day questioner thing on Pinterest I think it may be fun to do with my 4 year old. The 12 year old however I'll have to think on it or perhaps he has his own ideas.

  7. I love these towels Sasha! They are adorable! My kiddo is the same age as yours and I totally understand. These days are fleeting. We have come up with a plan to do one fun thing a day all summer. It could just be reading on the porch, but I am making the most of this time with my girl. You should join in with us ! I will be posting on IG! I am getting those towels today. Blessings! Susan

  11. Holy cow, miss a post and miss all the goodies! You and I are opposites, as I finish school and have the summer off, I boost up my selling so that I can stay home with my kids for the summer! Can't wait to see what you are up to this summer!

  12. Oh no! I mean, oh YAY I'm so glad you're taking the summer off from the shop but 'oh no' for me because I adore those lobster towels. I have a wee bit of a lobster obsession (blame my New England upbringing) and love those. Please bring them back in the fall. And also the Mr. and Mrs. pillowcases, I just went to see if you had any in stock! Soak up those beautiful kiddos this summer, and I know you'll have more amazing stuff to list this fall... but oh, hopefully those towels and pillowcases will make the cut! ;-)
