Just a nice, newsy post

Hi Sweet things.

I have a winner, photos from my week with my friend Becky from out of town, and just life to share. Here we go!!

The randomly drawn winner from the Heartcrafted Co. giveaway was #16, Onescrappychick.  (Shoot me an email and I'll put you in touch with Amanda for your custom address stamp!)

By now I wonder if there is anyone who doesn't know my friend Becky of Farmgirl paints?  If you don't know her, you need to.  She is wonderful and precious and we figure we've been friends since about 2009 when I found her comment on the Beth Moore blog and we started emailing back and forth with so much in common.  We loved one another right from the start.  We laugh about our first meeting- she flew out to my house to stay with me having never met me in real life.  We were both really hoping and praying the other person wasn't a loon. (So were our men.)

Luckily we're two peas in a pod and so much alike that it was easy and always has been.  Love friends like that. She was here all week and we walked, laughed, ate, cuddled up to the TV under afgans, sipped wine, savored coffees, shopped, painted pottery, traipsed around daffodil fields, rode ferries, and took way too many photos.

It was heaven.  We had perfect weather and we're at that amazingly comfortable stage where we can talk about anything- or not talk at all.  Blessed friendship.  Wished there wasn't an entire country separating us.

The photo on the top left made us laugh.  She was trying to take a selfie in the reflection of my sunglasses.  (Looks like we're about to make out or something.  Hysterical.  People could hear us howling with laughter all over the trail and told us we sure sounded like we were having fun.  Uh.. understatement.)
What I love most about Becky, is that when we're together we can take all kinds of fun photos that make it look like we're having the best time... and guess what?  We actually are.

I loved having my guest bedroom occupied.  Fresh flowers, a little mirror, yummy candles and matches, gold cafe lights, a trash can, stack of magazines, towels, a hanging hook, a small dish of soaps, shampoo, toothpaste and make up remover towelettes, soft pillows and blankets, and a white comforter are my favorite ways to welcome friends. (That, and a little slate cow chalkboard I found at Marshalls that worked perfectly for a Farmgirl welcome gift.)
She blessed ME with a yummy candle, her company and an early birthday gift- like... way early.  I turn 40 in September but she bought me this gorgeous rug for in front of my kitchen sink.  I love early gifts.  Ha!
In other news... Joe is wrestling and my heart was in my THROAT for this shot- totally thought he was going to win this match.  He actually got flipped right after this and locked eyes with me while I yelled FIGHT! - I don't think there is a worse feeling than watching your kiddo getting pinned and seeing him look straight at you... and nothing you can do.  I think I gave Adrain's knee bruises from squeezing it so hard.  I don't think I'm going to be able to handle spring football. He wants to play and I'm soooo not ready.  One little boy got hurt (he is okay now) and I couldn't get the visual out of my head for two straight nights, kept praying he was okay.  Totally could have been my son.

Also and totally unrelated, I'm listening to Pandora's 90's love songs right now and it's cracking me up.  I totally loved Boys to Men.  I really did.
Working on my next post today too... it's gonna be packed full of pretty table pictures to help inspire you with your Easter table.  I'll be using the Ever Thine Home "His savior name adornaments" and I can't wait to show you.  I'll have a special deal for you too so make sure and stay tuned!
Finally... You may remember that I've been doing the She Reads Truth Lent study... I feel like God has been blessing my heart SO much... I've come to Him asking Him to strip me of my idols and anything that stands between us and He has been showing me all kinds of crazy things while He empties my cup of SELF.  A cup filled with self can't be filled to the brim with Christ.  I love that.  Now, everytime I empty my coffee cup (yay! coffee!!) in the mornings, I think of that.  Praise Him!

Okay I've got to get something else done before this weekend starts.  How are all of you guys?

  1. Awww! So fun that you and Becky were blessed with a week like that. I have a dear friend met through blogging too, and I hate that so many states separate us, but when we do get to spend time together, it is THE. BEST. Have fun decorating your Easter table! Can't wait to see it :-)

  2. You and Becky are the cutest friends :) I was lucky enough to meet her recently at a gathering at her amazing house and just loved her. Your guest room is awesome…looking forward to seeing what you do with your table!

  3. There's nothing better than a good lasting friendship. My best friends are spread around the world so i know how you feel, but whenever we meet it's like we were never apart....

  4. I really enjoyed watching your friend weekend on IG. That is a precious friendship. I agree about wrestling - scary to watch. But it sounds like Joe is doing great! We didn't have a great week here, so thanks for the uplifting post(: Susan

  5. Oh Sasha - I am so glad you got some much needed girl time! You needed a good reminder of HOW special you truly are and HOW wonderful of a friend you ALWAYS are! Don't let satan tell you otherwise! K - now when do we get our day - lol!! I'm itching for my SASHA day :) P.S. Collin wrestled and played football as the smallest player - I SO GET your thoughts/fears on that subject! But there is hope - he is now my strapping young Marine :) You never know what God is strengthening them and US for! Love ya!

  6. Oh wait, what? I won? I am so grateful to you both. I will email you and I have such a story to share with you about waiting on God's timing. Loved this post, and the photos you shared about your week, and I enjoyed watching along on IG. I have a date Friday with one, maybe two, of my friends that I don't get to see nearly enough, and I cannot wait.

I know as a mama it must be hard, but how awesome for Joe to be putting himself out there and doing not just wrestling, but football as well? (proud cyber-auntie beam). Your kids are growing into such fine young adults. It's wonderful to watch.

  7. Awe, what a special time for you and Becky, just love her and her blog and all her wonderful work. Can't wait to see your pretty table pics. And, yes, we cannot be filled with HIM except to be outside ourselves. So, so tough at times. Great post Sasha!

  8. you two seem perfect for each other! what an upbeat post. thank you for sharing.

  9. just seeing this now. i'm revisiting your sweet space and our fun outings in my memory bank. oh what an amazing week! i just love that we can be separated by a million miles and come together and it's as if no time has passed at all. sure love you friend!
