I about laughed out loud when I saw your post!!! That is hysterical. I love it, because I HAD THE SAME FEELING. AND I ACTED ON IT!! NOOOOO!!! YES I DID!!! It was liberating to get that tree outa here and on the road where it belonged! ha ha ha

I have always waited until after the kids go back to school to take mine down, but have been slowing taking it down this year...feeling the need for order in our home. Love the idea of moving your family games to that area. I have a thing for boxes too...everything looks so welcoming and pretty, Sasha.

This is the first year I've itched to take my decorations down early. We usually leave them all untIl Epiphany, but a ten month old leaves a lot open to grab and discover. We're managing, somehow.

I'm going to have to rethink my word for 2012. It's so hard because I have so many. Time to whittle them down!

I have been thinking about a word for 2012. Jury is still out on that....lol, brain in overdrive.
I too have been moving things around and doing some early spring cleaning ...as in throwing things out and making trips to the local thrift store with donations.
God is going to have the right family look at that house and they will fall in love with it and all it's cuteness. You wait and see. : 0

Completely agree! Actually, I'm feeling REALLY tweaky :-) - as in, we started a huge home reno project in Oct. and it's still going on. We took a small break for the holidays, and now it's back to the races. Wish me luck! Love your little white table in the living room now.

I struggled with taking our decor down too! I felt guilty, but I just love getting it all put away and having the house clean again!

We just found out a couple weeks ago that we will be moving....a very big move...bigger than we have ever done, so I am in the process of starting to box things up.

It sounds like you have sold your house before. This is the first house we have owned, so it will be the first we have tried to sell. I have been taking as much off the walls as I can just so I can be ready when we have to move (because we will most likely have to move before our house sells, unless God sells it fast!) and I was thinking that it will be easier for people to visualize what they can do in here. What do you suggest for trying to sell?? If I walked into your house, seeing how you have it decorated, I would be sold! :)

I took my tree down on Christmas day...in the afternoon. I was tired of telling a little 10 month old to "stop pulling on the tree, please!" over and over. Plus that cluttered feeling that comes with Christmas decorations was stressing. me. out. but we'll say it's because of child safety. ;)

I think those pine needles get in the bathroom by way of four little paws, there are secret hiding places between the pads. I am right there with you with taking Christmas down. Everything starts to look shabby inside and out and I want it all cleaned and shiny for the new year. My mom, an OCD house cleaner, always told me it was bad luck to still have it all up on Jan. 1st. I usually take it all down on the 27th but this year we have been out of town. Headed home today so will start tonight and finish tomorrow. I am sure my tree is pretty crispy too.

Not sure what my word will be yet. Hmmmm.....

I want to "move". Like pick up the family and change states. My 13 year old is on the fence. My 11 year old is an "absolutely not". My husband is an unmotivated "if you really want to." You reminded me to give it to God. Thanks!

My mom always left our decorations up until News Years, so for years, that is what I did also. The last few years however I have been itching to take them down right after the holiday however. After a few days of wanting to act on that urge, this year I did it. Yesterday I took it ALL down, except the Nativity. That stays until Epiphany.

We leave our decorations up until after New Year's Day.
I love tweaking too, and don't do it enough. Thanks for the inspiration, as we will be putting our house on the market this year too.
